Best Travel Gifts 2025: Thoughtful & Practical Ideas for Every Type of Traveler
With Christmas rapidly approaching, gift planning and shopping are in full swing! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite travel gift ideas — things I already own and love, as well as a few on my wish list. Whether you’re shopping for a new traveler, solo traveler, frequent traveler, travel blogger, or family adventurer, this holiday gift guide for travelers has options for a variety of budgets and will help you find something thoughtful and practical.
1. Waterproof Vacuum Compression Bags
One of the best travel gifts 2025 for organization! These compression bags help maximize luggage space and keep your clothes protected from spills and moisture. Perfect for beach vacations, cruises, or rainy destinations. The waterproof aspect sealed the deal for me!
2. Zipper Compression Bags
A more affordable alternative to vacuum-style compression bags, these help you stay organized and save space. While not completely waterproof, they’re great for separating clean and dirty clothes and maximizing your storage capacity. These were the first compression bags I owned, and I still use these when packing my kids.
3. Family or Single Passport Holder
This is one of those travel essentials you never knew you needed until you have one! I love being able to store all of our passports, Global Entry cards, printed boarding passes, and local currency in one place.
Pro tip: Arrange passports in age order so you always know which one belongs to whom.
4. Luggage Tags
An easy, affordable stocking stuffer for travelers! We keep one on every piece of rolling luggage, backpack, or purse. There are endless styles to match any traveler’s personality.
5. Baby Formula Containers (Not Just for Babies!)
Hear me out — these are perfect travel containers for electrolyte powders, protein powder, coffee (here’s our favorite coffee beans roasted by a friend!), creatine, or my personal must have – matcha green tea (if you like green tea and aren’t drinking ceremonial grade, then definitely give this one a try!). Compact, spill-proof, and surprisingly versatile the containers screw together keeping them neatly organized in your luggage. These are a great gift idea for someone you know who loves to travel with their morning routine in tact!
6. Handheld Frother
If your traveler likes any of the above mentioned items, then a handheld frother is another great gift idea. I love this frother. It is rechargeable, has cute color options, comes with a travel case to protect it in your luggage, and has a push button on the top which is my preference. I also love to gift frothers in holiday gift exchanges, they are a well-loved gift!
7. Pill Organizers
If your traveler takes daily supplements or prescriptions, a pill organizer is a practical and thoughtful travel gift. There are great options that keep everything neatly labeled and secure for trips.
Sparkle Pill Organizer: I keep this one in my purse at all times.
Travel Pill Organizer: I love that this one has individual daily boxes within the weekly box. It is easy to pull out my daily supplements and toss them into my should bag for a day of adventures.
8. Luggage Scale
When you’re worried about your bag exceeding the airline’s weight limit, this luggage scale comes in clutch! It’s lightweight, doesn’t require batteries, and easy to use — simply place it under your suitcase handle and lift. I love that it’s also packable, so you can toss it in your bag and check your luggage weight before heading home to avoid additional luggage fees. This is one of those practical travel gifts every traveler appreciates.
9. Compression Socks
Compression socks aren’t just for grandmas anymore! They’re a game-changing gift for frequent travelers thanks to benefits like improved blood flow, reduced swelling, and decreased leg fatigue during long flights. They also make great stocking stuffers for travelers.
I own two pairs from Dr. Johnny’s, and they’ve generously offered you all a discount! Use code Roost15 at checkout to save on your purchase. My compression socks help decrease swelling in my feet and legs and are one of the best travel gifts 2025 for health-conscious jet-setters.
10. Power Bank
My bestie gifted me with this power bank for my birthday this year because I am the absolute worst at keeping my devices charged. It is hands down one of the best gifts I have ever received. This one is magnetic for mag safe devices and also has 2 USB-C ports if you would prefer to plug in a laptop, iPad or other device. It is fabulous gift idea for travel lovers and has earned itself a permanent place in my daily bag!
11. Luggage
Luggage has evolved so much in the past 20 years. Hard-sided suitcases with 360° wheels are now a must! I personally love my Quince luggage — it glides smoothly, has a built-in lock, and gives me peace of mind when checking bags at hotels or airports. I also adore their silk button down tops. They are classic and keep your body temperature regulated no matter where you are traveling!
12. Noise-Canceling Headphones
An absolute travel necessity! Noise-canceling headphones help block out cabin noise and make long flights or road trips more peaceful.

13. The Perfect Travel Backpack
A top-rated travel backpack is one of the best gifts for frequent travelers. Mine has multiple zipper compartments for easy organization, a padded back pocket for passports, and even a ventilated shoe section — perfect for beach or hiking gear. I’ve owned it for over 2 years now and have even purchased additional ones for my kids. They are holding up extremely well; I’m very happy with them!
14. Easy-to-Grab Sling Bags
Compact, stylish, and functional — ideal for day trips or sightseeing. Some of my favorites include:
- Lululemon: With various sizes to choose from, these are a popular bag of choice for many!
- Caraa Sling Bag: I have this in the large. It holds everything! I can fit my kindle, my instax, a bag of wipes, a couple of diapers, and my small wristlet inside it! They also have smaller sizes available.
- Nena & Co:The Fancy pack size and Manny pack sizes are perfect for travel. The Fancy size is smaller and I use that when we are traveling without kids, like in this photo below.
15. Instax Camera
My husband gifted me an Instax Mini a few years ago, and it’s now one of my favorite travel companions. I love capturing instant photos with a nostalgic, vintage feel — a perfect gift idea for travelers who love photography. I keep my photos on my bathroom mirror and displayed down a hallway in my home for a constant, joyful reminder of where our travels have taken our family. Don’t forget to add accessories like a protective silicone cover (I have this one), a case, and film.
16. Neck Pillow
With so many neck pillows available on the market, it can be hard to know which one to actually buy! Well, after years of trial and error with memory foam pillows, I love my Bucky neck pillow. It’s filled with buckwheat hulls that mold to any shape for comfort and support. The new versions even have travel loops so you can clip them onto your bag (Edit: I don’t recommend using the travel loop to attach it to your bag, mine fell off of my bag and is somewhere in the Honolulu airport lost and found)…. Note: It’s heavier than memory foam pillows, but so worth it.
17. Sleep Mask
My husband actually makes fun of me and says my eyelids are translucent because I struggle with extra light when I am trying to sleep. Enter a sleep mask. My life is forever changed, even at home. A great sleep mask blocks out cabin light and helps you rest better in transit. While there are many different sleep masks to choose from, I prefer the natural fibers of silk. Consider a sleep mask your new superpower for red-eye flights!
18. Kindle
Another must-have for me! I love to read, so my Kindle Paperwhite is always in my travel bag — whether I’m headed to my kid’s practice or the beach. The adjustable font size and glare-free screen make it perfect for any lighting.
Pro tip: Download and queue up your books before leaving Wi-Fi! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve boarded a plane and realized I didn’t actually download my books.
Additional accessories to consider when gifting a Kindle:
- Protection for the Kindle with a fabulous Kindle cover — a great gift for travelers who love to read!
- I never thought I would be a lazy Kindle reader, but the number of times I have been cozy in bed and don’t want to uncover to turn the page is astounding, so I finally broke down and ordered this Kindle page turner. It’s definitely a game-changer!
- An Amazon gift card so your traveler can purchase books to read on their trip!
19. iPad
As a travel blogger and planner, my iPad is my mobile office. The iPad Air 11″ is lightweight, easy to pack, and perfect for writing blog posts, planning trips, or editing photos on the go.
- I love this iPad cover with build in keyboard for travel protection.
- An Apple pencil for writing notes, coloring in an app, drawing, etc!
- While it’s not something I travel with, this full keyboard is amazing for blogging or working remote work. I love the clickety-clack sound it makes… So satisfying.
20. Gift Cards for Travelers
When in doubt, gift cards make a fantastic travel gift idea — especially if you’re unsure what your traveler needs most.
- Airline gift cards (Southwest, United, Delta, American, the options are endless!)
- VRBO
- Airbnb
- Booking.com
- Rental Car Companies (Hertz, Enterprise, Turo, Alamo, etc.)
- Amtrak
21. GoPro or Brave Action Camera
A must-have gift for adventure travelers! These action cameras are perfect for capturing travel memories — from snorkeling and scuba diving to mountain biking and snowboarding. There are endless mounts and waterproof accessories to customize the camera for capturing any adventure.
22. Snorkeling Gear
Snorkeling is one of my favorite activities, especially since sea turtles are my favorite animals! (Still waiting to witness nesting season — it’s on my bucket list!)

23.Weekender
A weekender is a great gift for any style traveler. They are easily packable for road trips or great to use as an additional carry-on item. I use a large weekender as my under the seat carry-on item. It holds all of my day of travel necessities but items I need for the kids as well. I love that this one is also a garment bag and has a luggage sleeve to make lugging it through the airport a breeze!
24. Universal Travel Adapter
If your traveler spends a lot of time internationally, then a universal travel adapter makes a great travel inspired gift! This one comes in a variety of colors, has USB ports, and can be used in much of the world. Definitely make sure their travel destination is listed on any adapter you choose!
25. Hammock
We love to travel with hammocks, especially if we are headed to a beach-y destination. They are easy to pack and provide a great place to unwind and relax while listening to the ocean breeze! Whether your traveler is headed to the mountains or the beach, a hammock is sure to impress!
26. Phone Lanyard
I always travel with a phone lanyard and wristlet. It makes photo opportunities easier since my phone is already out and ready to go rather than trying to dig through a pocket or bag trying to find it.
27. Travel Lounge Set
Flying in comfort is a must. Lounge sets like this one are trendy and comfortable, making long travel days (whether in the car or on a plane) a little easier.
28. Homeopathic Remedies
It’s rare that I leave the house without some kind of homeopathic remedy on hand. I love Boiron’s products, and this little travel kit would make the perfect gift for the holistic, crunchy traveler in your life! It includes a variety of remedies for common ailments, so you won’t have to hunt down a pharmacy while you’re on the go.
29. Earplugs
Another item I rarely leave the house without is my Loop earplugs. I even keep mine attached to this glasses chain so they’re always around my neck. Whether you’re on a plane, at a crowded attraction, or at a concert, they’re great for reducing excess noise while still allowing you to chat with your family or friends.
